Events seem to be moving so fast that it virtually impossible to keep on top of things. A brokered ceasefire, to which Israel agrees, is immediately broken by Hamas. Then another, ostensibly for humanitarian reason but it too is broken. And now Hamas is not only firing rockets, they are attempting to infiltrate through their tunnels. People throughout Israel prefer to be close to shelters as the rockets are deliberately aimed at the civilian population so no one is really enjoying the summer vacation.

But here is a point to ponder. While the world seems to be castigating Israel for the lack of proportionality and the media show pictures of the Palestinian injured and the ruins of buildings, glossing over the Israeli ceasefires broken by Hamas and the rockets disrupting life for millions of Israelis, the Arab world seems to be cheering Israel on, mainly anonymously from the sidelines.

Who could have believed that the TV broadcasts you can view in this clip come from the Arab media. Follow the link and be as amazed as I was.

Wherever freedom of speech is embedded in the law of the land there seem to be violent pro-Palestinian demonstrations which invariably silence any pro-Israel voices. When accused of being anti-Semitic, there is instant denial. “We are protesting Israeli/Zionist actions”.

Local Jews, not Israelis, citizens of Belgium, of France, of the UK, of the USA – the list is endless – are murdered, attacked and threatened and the point to ponder can no longer be denied. Do not these attacks prove conclusively that anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism are one and the same?

Brendan O’Neill, a columnist who, according to Wikipedia, has contributed articles for publications in the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia including The Spectator, the New Statesman, The Guardian, BBC News Online, The Australian, The Christian Science Monitor, The American Conservative, Salon.com, Rising East, The Big Issue in London and The Australian in Sydney, writes:

“There’s something very ugly in this rage against Israel. The line between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism gets thinner every day”.
